  • Bihar Assembly Rejects Proposal To Recommend Bharat Ratna For Lalu Prasad Yadav

The demand for awarding Bharat Ratna to Lalu Yadav has been a long-standing demand of the RJD, often raised by his loyal supporters within the party.

In a setback to the RJD, the Bihar Assembly on Wednesday rejected a proposal to recommend Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, for the veteran leader.

The demand for awarding Bharat Ratna to Lalu Yadav has been a long-standing demand of the RJD, often raised by his loyal supporters within the party.

On Wednesday, RJD MLA Mukesh Roshan once again brought the proposal to the Assembly, urging the Bihar government to recommend Lalu Yadav’s name to the Central government.

Responding to the proposal, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary clarified that the state government makes recommendations for the Bharat Ratna and Padma Awards each year, but there is currently no proposal for Lalu Yadav.

As of now, the Bihar government does not have any proposal to recommend Bharat Ratna for Lalu Yadav,” Vijay Chaudhary said.

He also urged Mukesh Roshan to withdraw his proposal. However, when Roshan refused to comply, Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav proceeded with a voice vote.

The proposal was ultimately rejected by the majority. The rejection came as a blow to RJD members who were visibly disappointed by the outcome.

With the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections approaching, the demand for Bharat Ratna is being seen as a political strategy to build public sentiment and garner support for Lalu Yadav, who remains a towering figure in Bihar politics despite his health and legal troubles.

RJD leaders and supporters expressed their discontent outside the Assembly.

“Lalu Yadav has made significant contributions to social justice and the empowerment of backward classes. He deserves the Bharat Ratna. This rejection is disappointing,” said Mukesh Roshan, the RJD MLA of Mahua Assembly constituency in Vaishali district.

  • “I Have A 3-Year-Old Child”: Bharat Bhushan’s Plea Before He Was Shot In Head

Bharat Bhushan (35), begged for his life… not for himself, but for his three-year-old child.

But, amid the bloodshed in Pahalgam, appeals to the terrorist with an automatic weapon were ignored and Bharat Bhushan was shot in the head, one of 26 killed in Tuesday’s attack.

He was shot dead just as his wife, child, and he had seen at least two other men killed, disbelieving and terrified, and crouching behind a cluster of tents in the middle of the picturesque green Baisaran Valley, too far from the perimeter to risk making a run to safety.

Dr Sujatha Bhushan, his wife, spoke to NDTV and described those horrifying minutes.

“We went for the vacation on April 18. Pahalgam was our last stop… we went up to Baisaran that day on pony rides and, when we reached, we took photographs and played with our child. We tried out Kashmiri costumes… then suddenly we heard lots of shots…”

Eyewitnesses said the attack began sometime after 2.30 pm. A single shot announced the carnage. Then the terrorists swarmed the meadow and began executing people with a ruthless precision, a defence expert suggested to NDTV, that comes with years of military training.

As realisation dawned on the Bhushan family and the other tourists and locals, they broke and ran for cover. Except, there was none. Most were caught in the middle of the large green space.

“Initially we thought they were just driving away birds or wild animals… but the noise kept continuing and getting closer. Then we realised this is not typical… this is an attack.”

But there was nowhere to hide, no hole to crawl into and escape.

“You know how Baisaran is… it is a large field and we were right in the middle. Anywhere we tried to run, it is quite a far distance to the perimeter. So we started hiding behind tents, the Kashmiri tents, set up in the middle of field,” Dr Bhushan said, her voice and expression stoic.

All three – father, mother, and child – were crouching behind one tent, but they could still see what has happening. And it was horrifying. People were being pulled up, questioned, and shot.

“One terrorist went to a tent about 100 feet away… he took a man out, seemed to talk to him, and shot him in the head. He did it twice more… I couldn’t hear what he was saying. But then, near our tent, I could hear, ‘How can you enjoy vacation when our children are suffering?’”

“He said, ‘Haven’t you seen the news? How could you just enjoy yourselves like this…’ to an elderly man and then shot him in the head also, then another.”

And then the terrorist reached the tent sheltering the Bhushan family.

“He came to my husband… and he didn’t even speak. He just shot him. My husband was requesting him, ‘I have a child… please spare me’. But he just shot him and left…”

The Pahalgam attack was the worst Jammu and Kashmir has seen in over six years, the worst since 40 soldiers were slaughtered in Pulwama district in February 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi – who was on a State trip to Saudi Arabia when the attack took place, an absence that underlines the precision with which the attack was timed – has said such an evil agenda will not be allowed to succeed, and that India stands united against terrorism.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh thundered out a warning to the terrorists who carried out the murders – sources have told NDTV there were five of them – and their handlers.

“We won’t punish only the monsters who carried out this act of brutality and barbarianism. We will also reach those who hid behind a curtain to carry out this conspiracy,” he said.

Since then India has announced a handful of diplomatic and non-military responses to the attack, including suspending the Indus Treaty and revoking visas for Pak nationals.

However, based on the Prime Minister and Defence Minister’s strong words, a military response – like the air strikes that followed the Pulwama attack – cannot be ruled out.

  • Operation Sindoor: Bollywood Praises India’s Pahalgam Response – “Jai Hind, Bharat Mata Ki Jai”

Nine sites were targeted in the overnight precision strikes under the codename ‘Operation Sindoor’

The Indian Army, Navy and the Air Force, in a historic tri-services operation, conducted precision strikes at 1:44 am (May 7) on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam attack in which 26 civilians were killed on April 22.

India struck bases where terrorist attacks were being planned and directed. Nine sites were targeted in the overnight precision strikes under the codename ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Bollywood actors like Paresh Rawal, Riteish Deshmukh, Nimrat Kaur, Anupam Kher and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar praised Indian army’s operation and shared messages on their respective social media handles.

“Jai Hind Ki Sena… Bharat Mata Ki Jai!!! #OperationSindoor,” wrote Riteish Deshmukh.

Madhur Bhandarkar wrote, “Our prayers are with our forces. One nation, together we stand. Jai Hind, Vande Mataram.”

Nimrat Kaur wrote, “United with our forces. One country. One mission. #JaiHind 🇮🇳 #OperationSindoor.”

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal showed his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the success of the recent government-led operation. Paresh Rawal didn’t write any word and just posted a series of folded hands emoji on his X handle.

Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution.” “We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held responsible,” India said in a statement.

Sources suggest the action was part of Phase 1 of India’s response to the Pahalgam attack, and more would follow based on Pakistan’s retaliation.

In retaliation, Pakistan resorted to cross-border firing and artillery shelling at Indian villages along the Line of Control, killing three innocent civilians.

  • Greater Noida To Get New Huge Railway Station Similar To New Delhi. Details Here

When operational, the station will be able to handle 100 trains, including Vande Bharat and other premium expresses

A world class railway station, with an advanced look and expanded space, is set to open at Bodaki in Greater Noida. Officially named Greater Noida Terminal, the station is being designed as NCR’s gateway to the eastern part of the country. The officials claim it could be one of North India’s most modern hubs and will be able to handle 100 trains, including Vande Bharat and other premium expresses, as per reports.

Within a 176-hectare multimodal transportation hub, the terminal will span 46 hectares and include 12 platforms and 63-yard lines for extensive repair activities. The station’s ground floor will reportedly be used for train operations and other associated tasks, while the upper stories will house commercial spaces, resulting in a mixed-use building.

The news station, which is less than an hour’s drive from the soon-to-be Noida International airport, would facilitate connectivity between eastern India and Delhi-NCR, reports added. Greater Noida Terminal will serve as a hub for commuters from Noida, Greater Noida, and other cities in the National Capital Region.

The train station will be a component of the transportation hub, which will also include a local bus terminal, an interstate bus stop, and a metro corridor connecting Depot Station and Bodaki.

The project’s scope has changed substantially since its inception due to several design modifications. Officials stated that the budget, which was initially approved at Rs 1,850 crore, is expected to double with these improved capabilities.

The master plan is being crafted by DMIC-IITGNL, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) jointly developed by NICDIT (Centre) and Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), each of which owns a 50% stake.

According to officials, SPV would submit the blueprint for state government approval. The SPV will manage the project’s funding and develop supporting amenities, including bus stops and utilities, while Indian Railways will supervise the construction of the station and other related infrastructure.

When it opens, the Greater Noida Terminal will take in eastbound passenger traffic from Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and other NCR areas, greatly relieving congestion at Delhi’s current transit points, especially Anand Vihar.

Once the master plan gets approved, the project is expected to be completed in three years, said officials.
